Laura Sturtevant Dodge
Prominent Club Woman Passed Away After Brief Illness.

Mrs. Laura Sturtevant Dodge of this city died early last Friday morning of a severe attack of the grippe. Mrs. Dodge, who was the wife of Dr. H. Dodge, had been in very poor health for some time, and her last illness began about two weeks before her death. The serious nature of the malady soon became apparent and the end had been expected for several days.

Mrs. Dodge was one of the best known women in Boulder, where she has been a leader in all activities of the community since her arrival here in 1871. She was a charter member of the Women's Club. She was the second president of the former organization. In 1892 she was Department Commander of Colorado and New Mexico. She was also one of the oldest members of the Fortnightly Club in which she was always a leader.

The deceased was 61 years of age and was born in Chicago where she was married to Dr. Dodge. With her family she came to Colorado in 1870 and to Boulder in 1871.

Mrs. Dodge is survived by her husband, Dr. H. Dodge and two children, Dr. Horace C. Dodge of Steamboat Springs and Mrs. L.J. Moulton of this City.

The funeral services were held at the late residence Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Out of deference to her wishes, the services were private. Rev. H.B. Hummel of the First Presbyterian Church officiated. Interment was made in the family lot in Columbia Cemetery.
