The daughter of James H. (the son of Isaac and Lydia Branch Carter) and Jane Spence Carter (Jane was the daughter of Joshua and Susan Middleton Spence). The sister of:Sabronn; Elizabeth "Susan"; Mary A; Rachel; Samuel W; William R; James J. "Cub"; Jacob B; George; Harriet Carter Hughes; Geneva; Raiford; Berry. Wife of Joe Boatright (son of Richard and Mary Harrison Boatright). According to her great-great granddaughter, Lynn Tyrer Moody, she had heard that Kesiah was "quite the colorful character. Her husband, Joe, was a wealthy farmer and she did midwifery as a community service. She was an avid fisherman, wading right into the creeks with the men. She always carried a sawed-off shotgun with her and was not afraid to use it.She had contracted scarlet fever at one time and had lost all of her hair, but it eventually grew back.She was the mother of seven children: Wealthy Boatright Smith; Samuel; Mozell; Elmore; Lizzie; Thomas and Kate Boatright Smith.
