James Richard “Rick” Ballengee, 62, of Spotsylvania County, passed away Friday, April 3, 2015 at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Ballengee was a U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam veteran. He was a retired electrical supervisor for Spotsylvania County Schools.
Mr. Ballengee was preceded in death by his son, Jason Ballengee; his brother, Edgar Ballengee; and two sisters, Wilma Jean Ballengee and Barbara Harris.
Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Linda Ballengee; three stepchildren, Steven Curtis (Cheryl) of Spotsylvania, Traci Curtis of Tampa, FL, Sherry Curtis of Maynardville, TN; six grandchildren, Austin, Alex, Zachary, Dylan, Haylee, and Noah; one great-grandchild, Trevor; his brother, Jerry Ballengee (Marge) of White Plains, MD; three sisters, Deloris Defibaugh of Hedgeville, WV, Linda Sulzer of Cocoa, FL, and Joanne Randall (Richard) of Troutman, NC; numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful friend, A.J..
A service will be held at noon on Thursday, April 9 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be to the American Cancer Society, South Atlantic Division, 4240 Park Place Ct, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
