Monsignor John T. Born December 5, 1918, passed away on September 3 2013 at The Mother of Good Counsel. He is survived by his sister Joann (Ronquest) Dalton, his brother-inlaw Robert Dalton, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, great-grand-nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends Elmer and Carol Filla and Rev. Denny Schaab. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Myrtle (McCavinney) Ronquest, his sisters Ursula (Richard) Faller, and Rose (Eugene) Jakovich, and brothers Stanley (Eleanor) Ronquest and Robert Ronquest. He was ordained on June 2, 1945 at Kenrick Seminary, and his first assignment was as assistant at The Old Cathedral Parish in downtown St. Louis, MO. From there he served as assistant at Immaculate Conception Parish in Jefferson City, MO, Holy Innocents Parish and Resurrection Parish in St. Louis, MO. He was the founding father of St. David Parish in Arnold, MO. He then served as pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Florissant, MO, and then as Pastor at The Old Cathedral Parish in downtown St. Louis, MO until his retirement. After retiring, he served as senior priest at St. Simon Parish in St. Louis, MO. He spent his remaining years at Regina Cleri Retirement Home for Priests until he required skilled nursing care. During his years as a priest, he held many positions serving the Archdiocese of St. Louis: The Priests' Mutual Board, Priests' Personnel Board, and Archbishop May's personal representative for the retired priests of the Archdiocese. Monsignor Ronquest was a friend to all and will be dearly missed. His was a life of kindness, generosity, compassion and service to all. Services: Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 7 at 9:30 a.m. at St. David's Parish, 2334 Tenbrook Rd., Arnold, MO followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Most Reverend Archbishop Robert J. Carlson, Archbishop of St. Louis, officiating. Priests from the Archdiocese of St. Louis and other dioceses will be concelebrating.
