Raymond Howard 76, of Cambridge, passed away Saturday (Jan. 31, 2009) at Southeastern Med.
He was born June 2, 1932, in Salyersville, Ky., son of Dudley and Gladys (Lemaster) Howard.
Mr. Howard worked for RCA following his graduation from the Ohio State School for the Blind in 1953. Following the closing of RCA, he worked for many years as a self-employed broom maker and piano tuner.
For many years he entertained the community with his band, "The Country Folks," which included his wife and children. He was an avid musician, a Ham Radio operator and loved working on his computer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna (Walters) Howard; and two grandchildren, Christopher and Brianna Jones of Jacksonville, Fla.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lois (Dingess) Howard; sons, Don (Debbie) and Ron Jones of Columbus and Jeff Jones of Melbourne, Fla.; daughters, Debbie Kovar, Vicky (Chris) Carlisle, Pam Harris of Cambridge, Theresa (Gordon) McKinley of Evansville, Ind.; 15 adoring grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren, all of whom were the apple of his eye; special and very caring friend, Carol Price; brothers, Richmond (Betty) Howard, Ed (Betty) Howard, Shelby (Susie) Howard; sisters, Catherine Gordley, Juanita (Paul) Conley and Mary Ruth (Mike) Smallwood.
Ray was a longtime member of The New Life In Christ, the local congregation of The Worldwide Church of God.
There will be a celebration of Ray's life during a memorial service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association.
