WILLIAM LAUREN BEAIRD

William Lauren Beaird, 81, the son of Jessie Earl and Otha (Offield) Beaird was born Oct. 12, 1920, in St. Clair County, and passed from this life on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at Skaggs Community Health Center in Branson.
After graduating from Roscoe High School in 1937, Lauren moved to Schell City to work on the Triangle S. Ranch. In August 1942 he entered the U.S. Army serving both here and abroad until December 1945. After his military duty, Lauren returned to Schell City, this time to work for the Katy Railroad.
In 1950 he was united in marriage to Bertha Hicks in Bentonville, AR. To their union one daughter was born in 1953.
For many years Lauren also worked for Ditty Produce, then as a janitor for the Schell City School until his retirement. Throughout his life Lauren farmed also, both dairy cattle and row crops. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and raising coon hounds.
Survivors include his sister, Wanda Cowger, and her husband, Ronald Max-Kissee Mills; two nephews and three nieces. Lauren was preceded in death by his wife and his daughter, Brenda, who passed away in a car accident in the early 1970s.
Graveside services were held Thursday, Feb. 7, at the Green Lawn Cemetery in Schell City, with Pastor Marvin Jamison officiating. Service arrangements were under the direction of the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home, Schell City.
