Hanover man killed at Lincoln Speedway
A spectator at the Lincoln Speedway near Abbottstown died of injuries recieved Saturday night when he was struck by a sprint car at the speedway, police reported Sunday night.
Michael Anderson, 18, of Hanover, died Sunday at York Hospital, according to a spokesperson at the hospital. Anderson was injured about 10:15 p.m. and was taken to Hanover General Hospital before being transported to york.
According to East Berlin Ambulance Captin Donald Fuhrman, Anderson had run onto the racetrack in order to retreive a section of a race car which had fallen onto the track. He was hit by one car, possibly two, Fuhrman said.
Emergancy medical teams fron the Hanover Coronary Van, East Berlin Ambulance Company and the racetrack first aid squad treated Anderson on the racetrack for multiple injuries.
The race was held up for approximately an hour, according to Fuhrman, while Anderson was treated.
