Mrs. Almand Died Saturday From Burns
Mrs. Harold Almand passed away at the Walton County Hospital Saturday, March 19, when she was badly burned while destroying trash at her home near Good Hope.
Mrs. Almand was wearing a housecoat, which caught fire, and when she saw that she could not extinguish the flames, she ran to the home of her nearest neighbor, Mrs. W. D. Dobbs, who dashed water on her, putting the fire out.
Mrs. Almand was immediately rushed to the hospital, where everything possible was done for her, prolonging her life about a week.
Mrs. Almand was the former Miss Julia Holder, daughter of Jim E. and Ruby Gibson Holder, prominent Walton county citizens.
She was 25 years of age and a valuable employee of the Southeastern Manufacturing Co., of this city.
Mrs. Almand was married about three years ago to W. Harold Almand, well known farmer, at Good Hope. She was highly regarded by many friends, who were grieved to learn of her tragic death.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon from Braswell Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Braswell cemetery, with the E. L. Almand Co., in charge of arrangements.
The floral offerings were numberous and beautiful, attesting the esteem in which Mrs. Almand was held.
To the bereaved family, The Tribune extends sincerest sympathy.
