SARAH ELEANOR FORTENBERRY ALFORD, AGE 81

And a resident of Mt. Hermon entered eternal life on August 10, 2010, at Riverside Medical Center. Mrs. Alford was born September 18, 1928 in Magnolia, Mississippi.

She was the daughter of Burl and Jesse Huckaby Fortenberry. She was a school teacher and basketball coach for many years at Spring Creek and Mt. Hermon. She was a member of the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. She was also an Eastern Star.

Survived by: 2 Sons and a daughter in law: David Wesley Alford of Slidell, Malcolm Burl and Barbara Alford of Mt. Hermon, 4 Grandchildren: Susan Rae Alford Woodward and her husband Kevin Woodward of Destin, FL, John Wesley Alford and wife Brittany Alford of Las Cruces, NM, David Matthew Alford of Slidell, Carlye Elizabeth Alford of Slidell, Great grandchild: Ryleigh Claviere of Slidell, Sister: Oneida Norris of Biloxi, MS

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Wesley Alford, two sisters Vada Rouse and Clemis Fortenberry Allen, three brothers George Fortenberry, Frank Fortenberry, and Wayne Fortenberry and a daughter in law Dorothy Alford.

Visitation will be at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church after 9 AM Saturday, August 14, 2010 until time of funeral service to be held at 11 AM Saturday at the church with Rev. Troy Bankston officiating. Burial will follow in the Silver Springs Church Cemetery.
