Charles "Bud" Phelon Lawley, 71, died Oct. 18, 2004 at his residence in Jackson. He was the owner of Jackson Floor Covering Store. He served the Jackson community since 1964. An avid fisherman, he was a member of the Rotary Club and the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson. A U.S. veteran of the Navy, he served during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John S. Lawley and a brother, James E. Lawley.
Survivors include his wife, Merle Lawley of Jackson; son, Wendell Ryals of Vidalia, Ga.; four daughters, Alice Elizabeth Wilkins of Jackson, Joannie Ryals of Ocala, Fla., Rose Marie Epperson of Birmingham and Darlene Buchanan of Cullman; brother, John (Betty) Lawley Jr. of Chattanooga, Tenn.; sister, Fay Conroy, of Fountain, Fla.; five grandsons, Brent Ryals, Zachary Wilkins, Jacob Ryals, Steven Epperson and Alexander Buchanan.
Funeral services were held Oct. 20 at First Presbyterian Church, Jackson, Alabama. Interment was in Trinity Memorial Gardens Cemetery
Pallbearers were Brent Ryals, Jacob Ryals, Zachery Wilkins, Kenneth Lane and Rayborne Lane.
Honorary pallbearers were Gerry Pugh, Harry Lassiter, Dickey Steele, Ronnie Harris and Buck Bonds.
