John Fitzgerald, who was born in Ireland, enlisted with his brother, Edward, as natives of Philadelphia County to serve in the Revolutionary War. Worcester was included in Philadelphia county at the time. John served with the 3rd Continental Line. He married Rosanna Wentz (daughter of the wealthy Peter Wentz. He and Rosanna Wentz (sometimes spelled "Rosina," had eight children. Their burial site is not known with certainty.
