Stationed at Rockcliffe, Ontario, J/3256 Pilot Officer R.B. Aitken was killed when the Lysander aircraft (#432), which he was piloting, crashed at Cardinal, Ontario. His air gunner R/57925 Sgt H.W. Chase was also killed in the accident.

Enlisted on 13 May 1940 in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

Son of Hugh W. Aitken and Amy S. Aitken of Cardinal, Ontario, Canada.
