Funeral services for Mrs. Judith Ferguson "Judy" Ball were held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 13, in the Hixson Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Chris Blanchard officiated. Burial followed in the Holly Grove Cemetery in Anacoco.

Ms. Ball, 73, of Leesville, died Monday, June 9 in the Byrd Regional Hospital in Leesville.

She was a native and lifelong resident of the Leesville/Hornbeck-Vernon Parish area and a longtime educator in the Vernon Parish School System. She was a 1948 graduate of Leesville High School and a 1952 graduate of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. She taught second grade at West Leesville Elementary for 21 years. She was a teacher at Pickering Elementary and was a teacher with the Headstart program at Vernon Elementary. She was a member of the Retired Officer's Wives Club, Louisiana Retired Teachers Association, Vernon Retired Teachers Association, Northwestern and LHS Alumni Association, Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Sorority, Kurthwood Homemakers, the American Legion Post #145 and VFW #387, Women's Auxiliary, Charter Member of the Kiwanis Club of Vernon and a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Leesville. She was preceded in death by her husband, LTC Charles T. Ball, her parents, Victor and Myrtis Hughes Ferguson, her sister, Louise Ferguson Hill and an infant brother, Walter Paul Ferguson.

Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law: Charles and Debbie Ball, Tallassee, Fl; Craig and Connie Ball of Leesville; one daughter and son-in-law Virginia and Raymond Post of Haughton. She had five grandchildren. Family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to First United Methodist Church or the Holly Grove Cemetery Association.
