Margaret "Polly" Louise Alko, age 84, of Perkins passed away Wednesday morning, February 8, 2012 at the Norlite Nursing Center in Marquette following a brief illness.

Margaret was born July 6, 1927 in Perkins, Michigan, the daughter of Nick and Margaret (Frossard) Alko Sr. Margaret was raised on the family farm just outside of Perkins and remained a lifelong resident. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Perkins and worked in housekeeping at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba for many years.

Margaret is survived by two nieces, Laurel (John) Alko Eagle of Gwinn and Lynn Marie Alko of Arizona; great nieces, Nicki Jo (Jason) Eagle Markle of Gwinn, Amanda (Nathan) Eagle Ihamaki of Negaunee, Kerstin Tuskan of Wisconsin; great-nephews, John (Daniela) Eagle Jr. of Gwinn, Tech Sgt. Michael (Lynn Marie) Eagle, USAF of Almendorf Air Force Base, Anchorage, Alaska, Shawn Anderson of Gladstone; great-great-nieces, Emily Jo Markle of Gwinn, Carolyn, Hannah and Lila Eagle, all of Gwinn, Payton Ihamaki of Negaunee, Alaina Eagle of Alaska; great-great-nephews, PFC Jonathan (Chelsey) Markle of Fort Riley, Kansas, Tyler and Collin Markle, both of Gwinn and Ethan Ihamaki of Negaunee; sister-in-law, Kay Alko of Perkins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Nick Jr. and Richard Alko; one sister Josephine Alko.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, February 11, at 11:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Perkins with Rev. Fr. Jacek Wtyklo and Rev. Fr. Emmitt Norden officiating. Luncheon will be served immediately following services in the church fellowship hall. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Margaret will be laid to rest in the Fernwood Cemetery in the spring. Memorial contributions in Margaret's name may be directed to the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
