Peter Mitchell Alexander, Jr. died unexpectedly on January 2, 2012 at his home in Three Lakes, Michigan. He was born in Wilmington, Delaware on October 16, 1960. He attended Tatnall School in Centerville, graduated from St. Marks High School, and attended Villanova University and the University of Delaware.

He worked for Penny's Carpet Company and for Stanley Steemer before starting his own business of carpet layout, installation and repair. He retired in 2000 after suffering a severe nerve injury.

In school Pete was an excellent athlete in basketball, football, baseball and track and continued to enjoy playing softball and golf with his friends until his injury.

After moving to Michigan he enjoyed fishing the lakes and streams which surrounded his home.

Pete was a generous and loving person who made friends wherever he went. In spite of chronic pain, he never complained, and made the most of his restricted physical capabilities. He was always fun to be around.

He is survived by his parents, Peter and Maxine Alexander of Hockessin, Delaware, sister Meg Hall and husband Tom of Elkton, Maryland, sister Elizabeth Schowe and husband Dana of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, sister Nancy Nance and husband Randy of Nags Head, North Carolina, brother-in-law Craig Van Sluyters of Grand Rapids, Michigan, nieces Jennifer and Mara Schowe, Katie Hall, and Maddie Nance, and by nephews Ryan Van Sluyters and Randy Nance.

He was preceded in death by sister Lydia Van Sluyters.

His burial and a celebration of his life will be held in Three Lakes, Michigan.

Contributions in his memory may be made to American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association. Condolences may be expressed online at www.koskeyfuneralhome.com.
