SARAH IS THE D/O BURRELL W. GUNN AND WIFE SUSAN HARRIMAN/GUNN OF WASHINGTON CO., IL.
IN THE 1850 CENSUS SARAH IS FOUND WITH HER PARENTS AS A 1 YO IN WASHINGTON CO., IL. HER FATHER, BURRELL GUNN IS A FARMER.John and Sarah moved to Stephens Co., TX WITH THEIR 2 CHILDREN AROUND 1870. In 1888 Sarah was killed by lightning while sitting on side of an iron bed inside their farm house during a severe thunder storm in Stevens CO., TX.
When this happened her husband, John, was sitting on the other side of the bed and was knocked unconscious and also had some burns. Grace, the 2 year old was in the middle of the bed and sustained some burns. Just before the strike, Sarah had called out to her daughter,Isabella, who was in an adjoining room, if she had put her saddle away since it was beginning to storm and rain. At that time the lightning struck and killed Sarah.
Isabella or 'Bell' as she was known. cared for all the children until they were grown. with Grace a TWO YEAR OLD OF COURSE,requiring the most attention. JOHN AND SARAH CUNNINGHAM ARE MY WIFE'S GREAT GRAND PARENTS. HER GRANDMOTHER, ISABELLA FURNISHED ALL OF THE INFORMATION ABOUT HER PARENTS.
