Sarah Edith Vaughn was the daughter of Phillip A. Vaughn and Emma Rahel. She was only one of three children, out of nine, to live to adulthood. She was married to Lyman Hartford Shonk and had one baby daughter, Esther Shonk when she became ill with Consumption or Tuberculosis and died suddenly. She had only been married two years.
