Leta Jane McConnell Addington, 97, went to be with her Heavenly Father early Tuesday morning (May 22, 2012) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Scott County. Leta was a loving homemaker and a devoted gardener. Mrs. Addington was the oldest member of Copper Creek Primitive Baptist Church (Addington Frame) where she faithfully attended as long as her health permitted.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband in 2004, Delmar D. Addington; parents, James and Myrtle Francisco McConnell; sisters, Irene Sweet, Audrey Addington, Neva Moore, and Faye Thomas; her brothers, Carl McConnell and Kenneth McConnell along with her infant great grandson.
Leta Addington is survived by her daughter, Doris A. Keith and husband, Carl G. (Gate City, VA); her son, Allen L. Addington (Nickelsville, VA); grandchildren, Kendal G. Keith and wife, Edna, Michael W. Keith, Sr. and wife, Debra, Roger L. Keith and wife, Karen; her great grandchildren, Michael Keith, Jr. and wife, Hannah, Corey Keith, Kaylee Keith, Anna Keith, and Cody May; two great-great grandsons, Izaak and Kaiden Keith; sister-in-law, Jessee McConnell; brothers-in-law, Bruce Addington and wife, Janelle, Gladstone Addington and wife, Margaret along with several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Friday (May 25, 2012) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Scott County Funeral Home or friends may also call anytime at the residence of the daughter, Doris Keith.
A funeral service will be conducted on Friday (May 25, 2012) at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Rex McMurray and Rev. Daniel Smith officiating. Music will be provided by Copper Creek Church Singers and Steve and Flo Minton.
A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday (May 26, 2012) at 11 a.m. at Addington Frame Church Cemetery with Kendal Keith, Mike Keith, Roger Keith, Michael Keith, Darrell McConnell, and Larry Moore as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Addington Frame Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Addington Frame Cemetery Association, c/o Polly McConnell, 3713 Henricks Hill Drive, Smyrna, TN 37167.
