Aunt Della is my great grand aunt. In our Carson Family Bible, Aunt Della's name is written as Mary Dell Carson. The family and friends called her "Della" as a nickname.

Della Allen, 90, passed away in Indianapolis Monday in the homeof a niece, Mrs. Ora Newman.Funeral services will be conducted in the Cusick Funeral Home,Cicero, and Wednesday at 2 p.m . with the Rev. Jesse Byrd officiating.
Burial will be in Scherer Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home anytime.Survivors are a sister, Mrs. Charles Stockmaster, Terre Haute, a brother, Sam W. Carson, Havard, Ill, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Allen, oldest daughter of James and Lorinda (Orrenda)Carson, was born in Cicero. She prepared for the teaching profession and was graduated from the Indiana State Normal inTerre Haute in 1884. She taught three terms in Jackson Township and then taught in Texas and Oklahoma for ten years. She was married to James Allen and they were a part of the Cherokee Land Rights in the Oklahoma Territory. They later established a furniture and hardware store in Norman, Oklahoma, when that town was first laid down in lots.
When her husband died in 1916, Mrs. Allen returned to Cicero,where she has been active in church, lodge, and club work. She was a teacher of a Sunday school class in the Cicero Methodist Church, a Past Worthy Matron of the Cicero Chapter O.E.S., and a past president of the Cicero Womans club.
Mrs. Allen was the last of the Civil War Widows.
