Charity is my Great Grandmother. She was the oldest child of Minister Jacob R. and Elizabeth (Teague) Riggan. She was a sister of Joel, Joab, William, Phebe, Martha, Elizabeth Ruth, James and David Teague Riggan. Charity's mother died when she was twenty years old. Eliabeth (Teague) Riggan, (Charity's mother), was daughter of James
and Ann (Brooks) Teague. Elizabeth and her youngest son, David Teague Riggan are buried in
Abbotts Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery,
After the death of her mother, Charity was needed to care for her grandparents, Joel and Nancy (Carter) Riggan, and her younger brothers and sisters.
On October 24, 1846, she married Jesse Albertson
in Davidson Co. NC. In 1852, Jesse, Charity,
Charity's father, Jacob R., and several other Riggan family members started their trip north.
The wagon train divided near Cumberland Gap,
Jesse, Charity, Jacob R. and family came to Indiana. Jesse and Charity settled in Gregg Twp. of Morgan Co.
They were parents of six children, Jacob, Joel, John, James, Nancy, and Joseph Bartley.
I do not know where Jesse and Charity are buried,
for certain. I want to leave a memorial for her
so she isn't forgotten.
