Martha A. Atwood
Martha Ann Atwood, 73, of 1942 U.S. Highway 211 West, Luray, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.
Mrs. Atwood was born April 5, 1934, in Luray, and was the daughter of the late Julian Lee Williams and Lena Estelle Stover Williams.
She retired as a teacher's aide at Luray High School. She served on the Board of Directors of the Shenandoah Valley Soil and Conservation District for over 32 years. She was active with Page Valley Agricultural and Industrial Fair for 50 years and was former treasurer of Page County Farmers Association.
On June 14, 1952, she married Douglas M. Atwood, who survives.
She is also survived by a son, John Monroe Atwood of Luray; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Atwood of Baltimore, Md.; four grandsons and one great-grandson.
The Rev. Eric Croft will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. Friday at Bradley Funeral Home in Luray. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Luray.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
