CROWELL, Texas Michael Ray Forrest, 47, died Friday, August 7, 1998, in a Vernon, Texas, hospital.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Womack-Manard Funeral Home with the Rev. Steven Brooks, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Crowell, officiating. Burial will be in Crowell Cemetery.

Mr. Forrest was born Aug. 8, 1950, in Wichita, Kan. He and Shayne Garrett were married Aug. 2, 1997, in Crowell.

He served in the Marine Corps where he was a corporal E-4. He served during the Vietnam Conflict. He received the National Defense Service Medal: Vietnamese Service Medal with one star, the Vietnamese Commendation Medal with Device Combat Action Ribbon, and the RVNMUC Cross of Gallantry with palm and frame.

He was a longtime resident of Wichita until recently moving to Texas. He worked for Boeing Aircraft Company for 12 years and was a sub-contractor for the aircraft industry for the past year. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Wichita.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Michelle and Sheila Forrest both of Wichita; two sons, Shawn of Wichita and Shannon of Lenexus, Kan.; a stepdaughter, Laura Krause of Gordonville, Texas; three stepsons, Jason Mechell of Wichita Falls, Tanner Dean and Daniel Dean, both of Vernon; a brother, Larry of Wichita; two sisters, Marsha Hockman and Rebecca Wilson, both of Wichita; and six grandchildren.
