Services for Robert "Bob" Adkisson, 92, Wills Point [Van Zandt Co., TX] were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at Hiett's LyBrand Funeral Home Chapel, Wills Point, with Rev. Ray Reed officiating.

Burial was in White Rose Cemetery.

Mr. Adkisson died March 4, 2008, in Dallas.

He was born May 19, 1915, in Jewett [Leon Co., TX] to James T. ADKISSON and Hattie BARNES Adkisson. He grew up in Jewett and graduated from Jewett High School in 1932. He attended Southwest Teachers College in San Marcus and then two years of business school at the University of Texas, graduating with a BBA Degree in business. While in school he was hired by Sears, Roebuck & Co. in a manager training program and began working in Waco in July of 1936. His training took him from Waco to Longview and then to Wichita Falls as assistant store manager. In July of 1942, he received a Commission as a Navy Supply Corp Officer and was called to active duty in New Orleans, La. He was then transferred to the Philadelphia Navy Yard at Camp Perry Va., and also served at Pearl Harbor, Guam and then on the Okinawa Campaign. He was discharged from active duty February 11, 1946, and returned to work at Sears, where he retired in January 1977. He married Frances Nan Carson in 1958. He was a resident of Waxahachie and Athens before moving to Wills Point in 1999.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 45 years, Frances Adkisson.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Laurie Ann and Dr. William Atkinson, Wills Point; grandchildren, Carson Stones and William Thomas Atkinson, III; brother and sister-in-law, James E. and Virginia Adkisson, Buffalo; one niece; and other relatives.

He is survived by his daughter, Laurie Ann Atkinson of Wills Point; grandchildren Carson Stones of Austin and William Thomas Atkinson, III, of Wills Point; brother, James E. Adkisson and wife, Virginia of Buffalo; niece, Sally Bates and husband, Bill of Chattanooga, TN; other relatives, Robin Priest and husband Gary and Ben Bates, all of Chattanooga, TN, Louis Ricker and wife, Lucy and their daughter, Lucy Ricker all of Italty, TX. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday evening, 6:00-8:00pm.
