Samuel T. Allen was the second husband of Frances Hudgens (Wilson)(Allen)(Malone). The exact year and location of his death is not known for certain, nor is the location of his gravesite known. He "may" be buried in an unmarked grave near other kin in the Allen family cemetery in Phelps County, Missouri (where his son Valentine Allen is buried). He seems to have vanished from the records circa 1848-- some sources say he was killed by Indians in the woods, others say he may have taken off for parts unknown or to visit relatives in Massachusetts where he may have taken another wife. As of this writing, his origins and whereabouts after 1848 are shrouded in mystery. It is believed the Allens came from Virginia into North Carolina, then into Kentucky and then into Missouri. Other sources allude to a Massachusetts connection for his Allen ancestry. His parents may have been John Easter Allen and Rachel McDaniel. Other researches via Ancestry.com allege his parents may have been William Allen and Frances Pepper. This memorial is being added as a research aid to help others who may be connected to this lineage. Please feel free to post comments if you have additional info to share.
