Minnie was a great influence and mentor to many young women of the Wallace area in 1960s-70s Shoshone County, Idaho, including me. She and her husband, Carmello "Sam" Amato, were in the forefront of supporting the public school system in which their daughter was education. Minnie clearly acted out her love and honor for God, country, family, and community.
She was ever the lady, but also the one to encourage us girls to go for gold and try everything. This conviction was reflected in her dedication, organization, and leadership in her daughter's Camp Fire Girls troop. She holds a special place in every girl's heart who was raised in that era at Wallace.
