He was the half-brother of Donald Frank Urgo (1924-1997) (having the same parents: Bertram Joseph Bishop (1875)& Gladys Leslie)
He served for 40 years - 3 wars and received 3 Purple Hearts.
Although the highest award this country gives is the Medal of Honor, it is not the rarest. There are 2 known instances of 3 awards of the Combat Medic Badge and 325 known to have been entitled to wear the Combat Infantry Badge with 2 Stars. Bertram Bishop was one of the 325 known to have earned the Combat Infantry Badge with 2 Stars.
