Dr. Glen E. Hause was a pediatrician whose patients spanned three generations. Often, grandmothers would refer their sons and daughters to him when they became parents.
He was "a quiet, grandfatherly kind of person," said his friend and medical partner, Dr. Edward Forgrave. Forgrave said Dr. Hause had "an active following of people — not only their children, but their grandchildren" as patients.
Dr. Hause's greatest interest was medicine. Forgrave said. "He played golf occasionally, but most of his spare time he was reading about medicine or attending seminars."
Dr. Hause, 73. died Sunday at William Beaumont Hospital. Royal Oak, after a long illness.
He was a pediatrician for 44 years in the Detroit area and served as chairman of pediatrics for
Mt. Carmel Mercy Hospital in Detroit from 1939 to '64.
He received his medical degree from the University of Michigan in 1932 and served residencies in the East and at Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit.
He started his practice in Detroit in 1937, interrupting his career to serve as a major in the Army during World War II.
