MRS. ANNA KOONTZ DIES HERE THURSDAY
Mrs. Anna Koontz, 76, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Oglestone, here Thursday following an extended illness. Funeral services were held at the Oglestone residence Sunday at 1:30 p.m. with Elder Haight, of Corunna, officiating. Burial was in Ridge cemetery.
Anna Young was born near Fingol, Ontario, on June 23, 1867, and came to Michigan with her parents as a child. The family first settled in Sanilac county and later moved to Gladwin county.
She was married her to George Koontz, of Gladwin, in 1882 and they settled on what is now the Elmer Koontz farm in Gladwin township living there until 1918 when they moved into Gladwin and bought the present Oglestone residence on East Cedar avenue.
After her husband's death in 1923, Mrs. Koontz moved to Bay City buying a home at 245 Washington street. She remained there until three years ago when ill health forced her to dispose of the house and make her home with her daughters.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Charles Oglestone, of Gladwin, and Mrs. W. W. Hause, of Bay City; two brothers, James Young, of Gladwin, and Sam Stocton, of Beaverton; two sisters, Mrs. Lavera Demaray, of Bay City, and Mrs. Violet Partridge, of Flint; and three grandchildren, Lt. Wayne Oglestone, stationed with the U.S. Navy at Bainbridge, Maryland; Captain G. E. Hause, with the U.S. Army at Camp Stoneman, California' and Mrs. William Clark, of Bay City.
