From Ella's Grand Nephew, Mitchell Hugh Butler, Nov. 2007: Ella Butler never married, she taught English at Brackenridge High School in San Antonio for many years. The sources were two letters of correspondence with Arthur E. "Tex" Goldschmidt who was Secretary of Federal Works under FDR and Truman, and was later Ambassador to the UN under Johnson. The letters were in 1940 & 1947. This info came from the San Antonio Public Library archives under Goldschmidt / Rochs Family History Materials.
Note: From various articles in the San Antonio Express it was learned that Ella taught English literature and "progressive" education at Brackenridge High School for 27 years. It is said that she taught approximately 15,000 students during her 35 year career in San Antonio Public Schools.
