Services for Ret. Msgt William Stanley Anders, USAF, was held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville with Reverend Bart Walker officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Pineville. Military graveside services will be provided by personnel from Barksdale Air Force Base, Bossier City.
Mr. Anders, 67, of Ball, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2010, at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria.
He was a member of Kingsville Baptist Church and a former member of Red River Arts Guild. His hobby was woodworking. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was known to many baseball players and parents at Ward 10 as (Paw Paw Bill). He loved his grandkids as well as his honorary grandkids.
Mr. Anders was a Viet Nam Veteran serving with the 63rd Air Police Squadron and retired with 20 years service with the U. S. Air Force. Mr. Anders was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal; Air Force Good Conduct Medal with five devices; Air Force Presidential Unit Citation Award with one device; Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with two devices; Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon with one device; Noncommissioned Officer Academy Ribbon; and the Air Force Longevity Service Medal. He also retired from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Pineville as a policeman with 20 years service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J. D. and Lottie Marie Law Anders.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 13 years, Brenda Prothro Anders of Ball; one son, Anthony (Tony) Wayne Anders and wife Debbie of Baytown, Texas; daughters, Angela Marie Anders Coburn and husband Brad of Ball, Patricia Lynn McClaugherty and husband Charles of Ball; brothers, Jan Anders and wife Ottie (Nell) of Simmesport, Stephen Anders of Pineville; sister, Jill Eversull and husband Trenton of Slidell; grandchildren, Justin Anders, Heather Anders, Ryan Strohm, Shelby Strohm, Tristen Coburn, Dylan Coburn, Makenzie Mc-Claugherty, William Blake McClaugherty; aunt, Mildred Allen; uncle, Jimmie Ray Anders; special friend Pauline Butler of Bentley; one niece and four nephews.
Pallbearers will be Justin Anders, Ryan Strohm, Patrick Eversull, Phillip Ever-sull, Michael Anders and Galen Maltempi. Honorary pallbearers will be Dylan Coburn and William Blake Mc-Claugherty.
