Billy Joe Amburn passed away at his residence, Thursday April 6, 2006.
Celebration of Life services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 8th at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel with Dr. Ken Horn officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Billy Joe Amburn was born July 27, 1933 in Lubbock to the late Jesse and Pearl (Boyd) Amburn.
Billy Joe was a lifelong resident of Lubbock. He was employed as a truck driver for Wayne Kelly Trucking and Wylie Hudman Trucking. He was an independent truck driver and retired in 1995. Billy Joe married Jerrie Malish in Lubbock on December 13, 1960. Billy Joe was also involved in farming and raising race horses.
Billy Joe is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Patsy Sue Norton and a granddaughter, Carley Amburn.
He is survived by his wife, Jerrie Amburn of Lubbock; one son, Jesse Amburn and wife Chelsea of Tyler; two grandchildren, Brady and Alexander Amburn; three brothers, Arthur Lee Amburn of Lubbock, Jerry Farmer and wife Annette, and Terry Farmer all of Chanute, Kans.; two sisters, Helen Shrimpton of Lubbock and Vida Lou Walker of Midwest City, Okla.; aunt and uncle, Jack and Effie Amburn of Lebanon, Tenn.; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Lubbock or the American Cancer Society.
