Her mother died one year after year, 1925, after baby Donald died. Eight years after her mother died, 1933, her father, Lyle, also passed away.
Joyce and her younger brother, Lyle, were sent to live with their Great Uncle and Great Aunt, Arthur and Myrtle Anne (Magness) Jaquette. The Jaquette's raised Lyle and Joyce as they were their own.
