This grave belongs to my Mama and Papa. Francis Charles Becker married my mama, a Whitehead descendant. When Papa died, Mama had him put in a cemetery in Austin, Oakwood Cemetery. I was kind of out of it right then, but later I asked mama how come she did that. She said it was because the baby is there (Alice Virginia), and we have to put Papa there, too. I said that I didn't like it, and I knew that Papa didn't like it either. So when Nama died in 1978, I had his body brought back here and buried along with the baby.
When they came, they came with a great big truck with a box on it, a great huge box. They almost dropped it off the truck. I said, 'God, I'm going to get to see Papa again,' But they managed to handle the casket okay. So we put him here when Mama died, and we brought the baby here, too. When they came with the truck, I told them I paid for two to be brought here. The man went over and opened the trunk of the Cadillac from the funeral home and said, 'Here it is.' I asked, "What was in that box?.' It looked like a little bit of dirt. The man told me that was all that was left of the baby, just a little bit of bone.
Anyway, I was really glad to have my mother and father buried here. I want to be buried here too. I think my husband will, as well. We'll take the corner here, and if my daughters or any of my grandchildren want to be buried here, of course, they will be welcome."
