Alvin's obituary was printed in "The Clay City Times" on March 5, 1931:
"ALVIN FAULKNER 74, farmer, died at his home near Stanton, KY on February 24, 1931. He was born in Powell Co. July 22, 1856 son of the late Arnolis and Lorenda Faulkner. He was the oldest of six children, four of whom have preceded him in death.
Mr. Faulkner had served as Jailer [and] also Deputy Sheriff under Boone and Kennon. His illness was brief, having been stricken with pneumonia on Feb. 18, and passing on the 24th. Buried in the family graveyard by Masonic Lodge. Surviving are his widow Mrs. Lou Garrett Faulkner, two step-sons, Weed Garrett, Sardis, Miss., and William Garrett, Stanton, Ky. One brother, Louis Faulkner came from Mississippi but did not arrive in time to see him alive."
Alvin and his wife Lou were married at Stanton in 1889 after Lou's first husband, George H. Garrett had been killed in a farm accident in Missouri in 1884. Even though he and Lou never had children of their own, he was a wonderful step-father to Lou's sons.
