LYONS - Allene Gray, 84, died Feb. 7, 1998, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born Aug. 3, 1913, in rural Geneseo, the daughter of Charles and Jennie Anderson. She was a graduate of Geneseo High School. She was a saleswoman and later manager of Howard's women's clothing store, Lyons.
She was a member of the Lyons Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir for 30 years. As a member of Li-Ar-Mu Club, she helped with the campaign to build the Lyons Municipal Swimming Pool. She served on committees of the Town and Country Club, Lyons. She and her husband originated the Candy Cane Lane Christmas decorations in Lyons.
On Oct. 21, 1931, she married Lyle Gray. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Dr. Ken Gray, Dallas; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jan Gray; and six brothers and sisters.
The family plans a memorial service at a later time.
