Husband of Ellen Christina Peterson; married on 28 November 1907 in Mason City, Custer County, Nebraska.
"Bert L. Amsberry, a resident of this community since 1886, passed away at his home in Mason City early Sunday morning. He had been in failing health the past two years and death came peacefully after several days of unconsciousness. His age was 62 years and 21 days. Bertram Luther Amsberry was born in West Virginia, December 12, 1879 and departed this life January 3, 1942. The early years of his life were spent in his native state but in the year 1886, he came to Custer County with his mother, Martha M. Amsberry, locating on a farm in the vicinity of Mason City. With the exception of four years in the state of Washington and four years in Oregon, this has been his home since that date. On November 28, 1908, Mr. Amsberry was united in marriage with Miss Ellen Christina Petersen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Petersen who were pioneer settlers of the Basin community. To this union four children were born. The young couple began their married life on a farm and he followed the occupation of farming the greater part of his life. He retired from the farm about ten years ago and has since made his home in town. Here he was employed in various kinds of work until his health prevented further activity. In December, 1941, the deceased became a member of the Methodist Church of Mason City. He leaves his wife, Ellen C. Amsberry; three daughters, Mrs. Howard Hawkins, Mason City, Mrs. Florence Cox, Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Mrs. Norma Buster, Kearney; and one son, Clarence, at home; two brothers, Oscar of Winona, Missouri and Jess of Hillsboro, Oregon; four grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends. Services were held at the Methodist Church with Miss Alice Elison in charge and burial was made in the local cemetery."
