"Nevaeh" - Heaven spelled backwards
Nevaeh Buchanan, born February 3, 2004 vanished from the Charlotte Arms apartment complex parking lot Sunday May 24, 2009, shortly after playing on a scooter with her little friend. She was the child of Jennifer Orise Buchanan, 24, and Shane Hinojosa, 22.
Nevaeh was an excellent student. She enjoyed every day at Preschool, and recently had graduated from the Discovery Preschool Program at Cantrick. She could often be found spending time at the playground or hanging out with her new best friend Austin. She thought that she was "hot stuff" while driving her Power Wheels Escalade or riding her scooter. Even at the age of five, Nevaeh enjoyed the sound and look of a motorcycle. Nevaeh was a tomboy who didn't like dresses and was content to watch "The Jungle Book" over and over. Nevaeh named all of her stuffed animals, she named a stuffed black Lab "Tank" and her favorite, a beagle, is named "Harley".
A massive search for little Nevaeh ended tragically when Guy Bickley and his father went fishing on the banks of the River Raisin in Raisinville Twp, MI. Mr. Bickley noticed what he thought was a large block of cement along the shore line. Upon further investigation Mr. Bickley found that the cement was actually a veneer which covered the top of the shallow grave which held the body of Nevaeh.
At the time of this memorial, the murder of Nevaeh remains unsolved. As it would be speculation rather than fact to name the guilty party or attempt to list unsubstantiated details, I will leave that information for a later date when the facts are known.
Nevaeh's funeral was held at noon on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Stewart Road Christian Ministries Center in Monroe, MI. Her burial was held at St. Joseph Cemetery also in Monroe.
To showcase Nevaeh's love of motorcycles, the hearse was pulled by a single motorcycle, and there were at least 100 motorcyclists who rode in the procession, which was led by 10 police officers on motorcycles.
Nevaeh, until your story can be told, God Bless you sweet baby, no one will ever hurt you again. Rest in the arms of the lord and know that you are loved.
