ARTIE RAYMOND ADAMS
Artie Raymond Adams, 84, oldest son of Silas V. Bruz and Nancy Hawkins Adams was born in Rosedale, Feb. 22, 1887. Much of his early life was spent in Raccoon Twp and his early schooling was secured there. His life was spent in farming, oil line construction work and carpentering. On September 11, 1910, he was united in marriage with Sylvia Cox, daughter of Dosier and Laura Stultz Cox, who lived in eastern Adams Township near the Indiana State Sanitorium. To this union were born four children; Marietta, Wilbert, Lillian and Ralph.
The family moved to Clinton and later to Illinois, which has since been Raymond's home. About 1914, he united with the First Baptist Church in Rockville and had been a devoted worker during these years.
He is survived by the wife, Sylvia; the daughters, Marietta Turner and Lillian Peters; and the son, Wilbert. Surviving also are one sister, Gladys Pefley of Rockville and four brothers, Richard and Ared, both of Rockville, Noel of Carmel and Edgar of San Diego, Calif.
Funeral services were held in the home at Greenville with burial in Riverside Cemetery at Clinton by the side of his son Ralph, who died in 1923.
