Radio newscaster. Walter Bowles was born in Toronto, Ontario, and was educated at Ryerson School, Harbord Collegiate and Victoria College. Bowles was the first warden of Hart House and taught for seven years at Appleby College in Oakville. He gained recognition through his radio work as a newscaster, first with The Toronto Star's radio station CBL and later with his national CJBC broadcasts (which developed into the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation). During his day Walter Bowles became regarded as the dean of Canadian newscasters. Bowles died in Toronto Western Hospital.
