The brother of Warren residents, Harry E. Allen, 87, died at 6:15 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at his daughter's residence in Washington, Ind.
Born in Huntington County to Russell and Glagie (Myers) Allen on Jan. 31, 1920. He married Mary Turpin on Dec. 27, 1942; she survives.
A 1938 graduate of Jefferson Center Township High School, Mr. Allen was a retired farmer who also had worked at John Deere Implement in Lafayette. He was a member of the Federated Church in Brookston.
Other surviving relatives include one daughter, Linda (Rex) Myers of Washington; three sisters, Shirley Shultz and Dorotha Brown, both of Warren, and Christie Lake of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Robert and Jay Allen, both of Huntington; one grandson and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Allen was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Vetor and Sister Mary Martha, and one brother, Dorrell Allen.
Funeral services will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, at the Gill Chapel in Washington with the Rev. Raymond King officiating. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, or after 1 p.m. Saturday at Lancaster Cemetery in Huntington County, with burial to follow at the cemetery at 2 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to the Helping Hearts Hospice or the Federated Church in Brookston.
