Mrs Bette Bassett (Elizabeth Catherine McMillan) passed away at the Hills and Dales Hospital May 18, 1981, where she had been a patient for one week.

She was born in Biddeford, Maine, July 9, 1914, the adopted daughter of james and Elizabeth Miller McMillan.

She was united in marriage to Mr. Robert Lavere Bassett in Detroit on November 10, 1934 where they made their home following the marriage. They came to Cass City in 1955 where she was a partner with her husband in the Cass City Manufacturing Company. Later in 1959 they started the Bassett Manufacturing Company, retiring in December 1977.

She was a past member of the Zonta Club of Cass City and before her ill health she was active with the Community Chest and she attended the First Presbyterian Church of Cass City.

She is survived by her husband, Robert, one son, Richard of Kingston one daughter and son inlaw Sandra and Ronald Piechotte of Caro and one sister, Jeannie Smythe Leith of Novi, Michigan. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and mother inlaw, Sena Wright Bassett of Cass City.

A family memorial service will be conducted at 2:00PM Thursday, May 20,1981 from the Bassett residence at 4434 Woodland St, Cass City.

Rev Eldred Kelley, pastor of the Salem United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment in Elkland Cemetery.
