Frances M. "Fran" Anderson (nee Maderia), age 89 and a resident of Amherst, died Friday July 12, 2013, after a long illness.
Fran was born June 23, 1924 in Grampion, Pennsylvania to the late Patrick and Anna (nee Tutko) Maderia. In 1957 she moved with her family from Pennsylvania to Lorain where they resided until 1971 when they made Amherst their home. She was a cashier from 1966-1982 at the former Meyer Goldberg and Fisher Fazio. Fran was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, South Amherst. In retirement she volunteered at both Amherst Hospital and Mercy Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include four sons; Thomas (Meriel) of North Carolina, Donald (Jami) of Amherst, Robert (Jayna) of Elyria, and Jerry (Vicki) of Vermilion; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Tom (Maryann) Maderia of Elyria, Patrick (Carol) Maderia of Arizona, Larry (Diane) and Maderia of Amherst; and two sisters, Patty Klinar of Lorain and Cecelia King of Amherst.
She was preceded in death by her husband Russell L. Anderson (1997); her daughter Constantine (1954); sisters Agnes Meyers and Rosemarie King; and her brother Joseph Maderia.
Family will receive friends Sunday, 4-8 p.m., at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst. Closing prayers 9:45 a.m. Monday, followed by 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 333 South Lake Street, South Amherst. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
In Fran's honor, memorials may be made to Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 333 South Lake Street, South Amherst, OH 44001.
