P. B. Allen, 86, of Cambridge, Ohio RFD 5, a former resident of Charleston, WV, died en route to a hospital in Cambridge. He had been ill a short time. Mr. Allen owned the P. B. Allen Roofing and Contracting Company in Charleston for 30 years.
After leaving Charleston, he was owner and operator of a service station on U.S. Route 21 near Cambridge for 19 years. He was a Presbyterian and a member of Kanawha Lodge No. 20, AF&AM. Mr. Allen had received his 50-year pin from the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include two sons, Elmo E. and William B. Allen, both of Charleston; three daughters, Mrs. Fred Gates of Massillon, Ohio, Mrs. Frank Herman of Tampa, Florida, and Mrs. Ruth Cavitt of Charleston, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in Bundy Mortuary in Cambridge on June 11, followed by a second service on June 12 at Bartlett Mortuary in Charleston, with Dr. Joe B. Overmyer officiating. Burial followed in Spring Hill Cemetery.
After his wife Mary's death, Pembroke (43, widower) married Carrie Patton (23, from Kentucky) on April 6, 1910 in Kanawha County, WV by Rev. R. T. Webb, and was divorced by the 1930 census and living with his son Elmo E. Allen.
