Donald Ray Adams, age 80, of Holt, Fla., passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, April 22, 2007.
He was a lifelong resident of Holt and a retired Civil Service employee. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during and after World War II as a member of the 736th Brigade. He enjoyed fishing, growing vegetables and fruit trees, and keeping his lawn and pastures immaculate.
Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Clara Adams; his wife, Florella Adams; and brothers, Walter "Babe" Adams and Olen Adams.
He is survived by his wife, Josie Adams; daughter, Donna Ash and her husband Al of Crestview, Fla.; one brother, Harold J. "Dude" Adams; stepchildren, Robert and Lisa Russell of Danville, and Virginia and Janet Jackson of Pensacola, Fla.; grandchildren, David and Kelly Ash of Tallahassee, Fla., and Lisa and Ben Kimbrough of Holt; stepgrandchildren, Adrian Russell, Reed Jackson and Natalie Jackson; and five great-grandchildren, Caylee Forrest, Seth Forrest, Avery Ash, Aiden Ash and Asher Kimbrough.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 25, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Holt. A funeral will follow at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow at New Holt Cemetery.
