Howard C. "Hub" Anderson, age 85 of N7129 Shady Lane, Porterfield, Wisconsin, passed away October 31, 2003 at his home. He was born September 14, 1918 in Marinette to the late Edwin and Ella (Erickson) Anderson, residing in this area most of his life.
During World War II, he was stationed in England while serving with the Army Air Corps as a tailgunner. On May 3, 1947, he married the former Marilyn Curtis. They resided briefly in Milwaukee before moving to the Porterfield area. For a number of years, he worked as a manager of several lumberyards. He later was employed by Marinette County, retiring from the Highway Deparment. Hub loved to help people and would often interrupt his own work to assist others with building and construction projects. He built his own retirement home in the Town of Porterfield and enjoyed visits with his grandchildren. After retiring, he and Marilyn logged over 100,000 miles in their motor home, visiting all fifty states. He was a member of Porterfield Lutheran Church and the Wausaukee American Legion Post.
Hub is survived by his wife, Marilyn; their children: Sue (Robert) Baxter, Ray (Laurel) Anderson, Jay (Anne) Anderson, all of Marinette; Sally Anderson of San Antonio, Texas and Gregory Anderson of Sycamore, Illinois; six grandchildren: Tabitha (Bob Albert) Baxter, Melanie (David) Dugre, Blaine and Travis Anderson, Emily (Donald) Nelson and Matthew Anderson; five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Elaine Anderson, Marilu Kline, Wana (Don) Allard; a brother-in-law, Richard (Rose) Curtis and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Hub was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Bethany Baxter; his brothers and sisters, Carl Anderson, Clarice McDougal, Warren Anderson and a foster brother, Walter Kline.
Visitation at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home, services at Porterfield Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Lee Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Marinette, Wisconsin.
