I had known Barb since 1960. Her oldest daughter (Deb) and I went all the way through school together. Barb and my mom became the best of friends.
Barb got brave and decided to be our Girl Scout Leader. We did have a lot of fun in her troop.
For many years we lived only a block from each other in Brinker Heights housing edition in Marion. She was a great friend to have. She'd do anything she could for you. In the last few years she became very close to my oldest sister Paula. I know Paula is going to miss her very much. They would talk on the phone at least twice a day.
Barbara Jean Babb, 72, died on Monday at her residence.
She was born on Dec. 12, 1934, in LaFontaine to Andy B.G. and Eileen Mary (Benson) Stone; they preceded her in death.
She married Earl M. Babb on Dec. 20, 1953. He survives. She graduated from Marion High School and attended Marion Business College. She taught CPR and First Aid for the American Red Cross. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church where she had taught CCD and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She also had been a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. She was a member of the Marion Moose and Eagles Lodges and the Van Buren American Legion. She also was an avid reader, loved gardening, bowling, crafts and wildlife.
Survivors include loving husband, Earl M. Babb, Marion; children, Debra Peterson, Sweetser, M. Kay (Gerald) Fisher, Gas City, Nancy Russell, Marion, and Michael R. (Kathy) Babb, Gas City; brother, Patrick (Deanna) Lamanuzzi, East LeRoy, Mich.; grandchildren, Gary and Jason Fisher, Jonathan and Patrick Russell, and Michael and Bryan Babb; and great-grandchildren, Chloe, Raven, Aurora, Phoenix, Samantha and Becca.

It is almost Spring, five years since you have passed away, and you are so missed. As I see the Daffodils springing up, I dwell on how much you loved the Spring season. Daddy stills pines for his Beauty Queen. We love you, Mom!|
