Shirley Haws Alkire was truly one of a kind. Although she was plagued by many physical ailments, she never let pain get her down. She could be found swimming in an irrigation ditch with her grand-nieces into her 60's. She was a good wife to Warren and helped care for Warren's mother, Mamie Ballard Lawrence Alkire, as well as her own parents. She played a mean game of Skip-Bo and Uno. She is missed by many nieces and nephews.
