“Lucy Alexander, 83, formerly of Pocahontas, died Saturday, Nov. 25, at Parkridge Manor at Pleasant Hill.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, at the Resurrection Catholic Church in Pocahontas with the Rev. David Hogan officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Pocahontas.
Survivors include sons, Gerald and Gene, both of Des Moines; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren.
Lucy Shors was born at Pocahontas and graduated from Pocahontas High School. In 1927 she married Martin Alexander at Pocahontas. The couple settled and worked primarily in Pocahontas. Together they operated the Shors and Alexander Grocery and Pocahontas Produce, both at Pocahontas. After retiring in 1963, the couple spent winters in McAllen, TX. In March of 1988 they moved to Parkridge Manor in Des Moines. She was preceded in death, by her husband in May 1988.”
