Her brother James H. "Jim" White was born in 1893 in Mason City, Nebraska. Her brother Le_Roy (Roy) White was born near Bladen Nebr in 1895; their sister Grace White was born 1897 Bladen , Neb; their brother Guy White was born at Gretna, Kansas 1900..he was accidentaly shot 1909; and their brother Raymond George White (Ray White) was born in 1903 at Gretna, Kansas.
Dora White married John Marples at Gretna, KS in April 1908. She was age 16..days away from age 17..John Marples was aged 45.
John & Dora divorced in late 1920s.
Dora was a member of the Ladies Rebekah Lodge//ladies group of IOOF Odd Fellow Lodge which Geo & Clarissa White both belonged to. And, my own parents Bill and Gloria Marples belonged to the Rebekah Lodge.
Dora in later life would commute to see her 3 kids: IDA, INA and CHARLES P., in Washington State..and also commute back to Kansas to see her eldest son John William "Bill" Marples 1910-1997 (my Dad) ....and their famlies----as well as many friends of hers in Kansas. My Grandma kept the farm; and she bought homes in Washington State. She also loved collecting Antiques. She bought an old One-Room School-house and had it converted for use as a HOME...she had it moved to her property at Agra, Kansas circa 1960....on north side of US-36 Highway.
Dora liked playing BINGO and took me to my first BINGO game..and I won "twice" on SAME NIGHT. I seldom play anymore; but that was a nice memory.
My Grandma died May 1, 1977 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS. She is buried at Fairview Cemetery in Phillipsburg, KS. I attended her funeral.
I love my Grandma...and she is missed by many , many people.
