HALLOCK, Minn. - Margaret L. Adamson, 87, Hallock, died Sunday Oct. 2, 2005 at Meritcare Hospital in Fargo.
The former Margaret Louise Sandberg was born Nov. 15, 1917 in North Red River Township of Kittson County, the daughter of August and Ida (Peterson) Sandberg. She grew up and received her education in county schools in North Red River Township and also attended the Fleece School near Bowesmont.
On Aug. 3, 1940 she married Andy N. Adamson at Hallock. They made their home on the Paulson Farm along the Red River where they lived and worked for a number of years before moving to Hallock.
Margaret was employed as head cook at Hallock High School for a number of years and also as a nurses aid at Kittson Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the WELCA of Hallock, Kennedy-Donaldson Senior Citizens, Homemakers, Red Hats, Prairie Rose Good Sam, and Pioneer Farmers.
Margaret especially enjoyed traveling and camping in the motorhome, entertaining in her home, and having coffee with the “Girls” at Margies.
Over the years, Margaret and Andy opened their home to 40 foster daughters.
Family members include her husband Andy, Hallock; sons Andy Jr. (Cheryl) Adamson, Drayton; Royce (Loretta) Adamson, Fargo; grandchildren Joshua, Jennifer, and Marie Adamson, as well as Brock Dahl, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Clarece “Pix” Lindstrom, her parents, five sisters Nancy (Amos) Jerome, Alma (Albert) Wilson, Ferdina (Alex) McWilliams, Delphine (Ernest) Jackson, Ella (Chester) Harlow, and three brothers Arthur, Evador, and Carl Sandberg.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, 11 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, Hallock with Interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. Phil Tobin, presided, Karissa Dennis was organist and Galen Nordin, soloist.
Pallbearers were Tom Hughes, John Carpenter, Andy Lyberg, Donald Becken, Sander Gustafson and Charles Lindberg.
Adamson-Austin -Hughes Funeral Home, Hallock, assisted the family with arrangements.
